The Sopris Drive Residence

With a majestic view of Mount Sopris, this new custom home was built on one of the last undeveloped lots along historic Sopris Avenue near downtown Basalt. An open plan takes full advantage of the expansive views and a large window wall helps to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space. A large deck extends the living space to the outdoors for a grand panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.
The roof mimics this extended deck and reaches towards the view to shelter the outdoor space and to reduce glare from the summer sun. The window wall continues into the master bedroom to afford more grand views out towards Mount Sopris. A large barn door disappears into a pocket, expanding views while also making the modest living area feel much larger.
