This two-level custom residence was designed for former World Cup Snowboarder and Olympic medalist Chris Klug and his family. Located in Snowmass Village, the lot has expansive views towards the Owl Creek Divide. The entry level was designed with an open layout for maximum exposure to the two large decks off the back of the home. The expansive great room maintains its cozy atmosphere accredited to the varying rooflines defining and separating different areas within the space. A folding wall system spans the entire length of the living area, opening to a spacious deck creating the perfect indoor/outdoor entertaining space while also accentuating the breathtaking views.
With a modest one-story street front elevation, the house is nestled into the gently sloping site, with a walk out lower level opening to a peaceful garden and stream. The lower level provides an additional casual living area intended for their two young children to ‘be kids’ and make their own. This walkout lower level opens up under a covered outdoor terrace allowing the family to skin or split-board right out the back door down to the town trails.
The exterior and interior finishes and furniture were chosen with durability and low maintenance living in mind. Every material was selected to be as natural and green as possible, blending the contemporary architecture with the surrounding mountain landscape.
