217 Juniper Court
Basalt, CO
Located in one of Basalt’s most sought-after neighborhoods, this residence was designed to make the most of a challenging infill site while creating a comfortable and highly functional home for everyday living. Rather than relying on a traditional backyard, the home was positioned toward the rear of the lot to create a protected interior courtyard that serves as the focal point of the design. This outdoor space extends the great room beyond its walls, allowing the architecture and landscape to work together to create a larger and more connected living environment while maintaining privacy from both the street and the adjacent highway.
The home embraces a more modest scale, with spaces carefully organized to maximize natural light, flexibility, and usability. A guest suite on the main level enjoys direct access to the courtyard and side yard, while the upper level includes additional bedrooms, a family room, and a primary suite designed as a quieter retreat. Separate from the main residence, an accessory dwelling unit with its own entrance provides flexible studio or guest space. Throughout the project, the focus remained on creating a home that feels open, private, and adaptable while responding thoughtfully to the constraints and opportunities of the site.
