Set on 23 acres outside Breckenridge, Bourbonhaus was designed as a contemporary mountain residence shaped by expansive views, natural light, and the personalities of the people who live there. The home takes its name from the owner’s work as an award-winning distiller, an influence that informed the overall character of the design: grounded, expressive, and refined without feeling formal. Early collaboration with the Town of Breckenridge allowed the home to be carefully reoriented on the site, capturing panoramic views of Peak 10 and the Tenmile Range from nearly every major space.
At the center of the home, the great room opens fully to the landscape through expansive glass and oversized sliding doors that connect directly to a deck spanning the length of the residence. The layout was tailored specifically to the family’s lifestyle, balancing gathering spaces with quieter areas for work, study, and retreat. Downstairs, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed and playful, with spaces designed for entertaining, including a bar, wine room, mixing lab, and hidden speakeasy inspired by the owner’s passion for craft spirits. Throughout the home, the architecture balances warmth, openness, and durability, creating a residence that feels both elevated and deeply personal.
